A hold suspends the schedule; it does not erase it
The T6 can show a temperature you selected and still retain every programmed Wake, Away, Home, or Sleep period behind it. The word beside the setpoint tells you how long the override wins. That is why a thermostat can seem to change the temperature by itself the next morning: Temporary Hold reached the next scheduled period and ended exactly as configured.
Permanent Hold changes the end condition, not the stored program. It remains active until a person cancels it. If the house has stayed at one temperature for days, look for that label before rebuilding the schedule. Do not disable scheduling to solve an ordinary override
Honeywell Home publishes a separate Installer Setup route that can remove scheduling entirely. That is not needed to clear a hold, and entering the advanced menu introduces equipment configuration that this task does not require. Stay on the home screen when the goal is simply to make the existing program resume.
After canceling, compare the displayed target with the period that should be active now. If the schedule returns but the time or day is wrong, correct the clock rather than creating another hold. If heating or cooling still does not start, move from a schedule question to the existing T6 Wait guide or the thermostat terminal reference, depending on the message shown.

- Read the hold label. Look for Temporary Hold, Hold Until, Permanent Hold, or Run Schedule before pressing anything. The label tells you which control state is changing the setpoint.
- Choose a temporary change. On the non-connected T6, press plus or minus and leave Temporary Hold displayed; it ends at the next schedule period. On T6 Pro Smart, adjust the displayed Hold Until time.
- Choose a permanent change. Adjust the temperature, select the flashing hold control, and choose Permanent Hold on the model that offers it. The programmed schedule remains stored but does not resume by itself.
- Return to the schedule. Use Cancel on the non-connected control or Run Schedule on the smart touchscreen. Confirm the hold label disappears and the current scheduled setpoint returns.
